Mesopotamia Landscape

The high country of New Zealand has some great scenery. Peter Jackson used locations around here for his Lord of the Rings trilogy.

Enjoy this collection of photos from this part of the world.

Mesopotamia - Buildings

This selection of photos is intended to be one of several around themes of photos taken at Mesopotamia. Others will follow shortly.

One of the miost inmportant buildings on any station is the woolshed.

Under the woolshed by the tally pens the cobweb encrusted window caught my eye. Look carefully at the small buildings through the top right pane. Found them? In the next photo you can their reflections when I went around the other side of the window.

Reflections. Looking through the centre and out the other side of the pens under the woolshed. Old buildings behind me.

The small cookhouse has seen better days.

The long drop. Looks like it hasn't survived the nor'wester.

Timaru

I recently had the opportunity to go on a small group shoot by the old industrial are of Timaru with Timaru's photographic club, Focus Aorangi. The following is a selection of my better efforts.

My camera gear consists of my trusty Canon 450D with three different lens used for this shoot: EF 50mm f/1.4, EF-S 15-85mm and EF 70-300 L.

A small amount for processing to tweek the contrast, saturation, brightness etc and some cropping improved the images from the camera. Some rotation of images was necessary as well.

The old Mitre 10 car park.

The afternoon started off clear with a bright blue sky. However it slowly clouded over and by the time we had finished the sky was washed out and some potentially good shots were lost. I don't like the idea of cloning in a sky from somewhere else!

Lights in the railway yard - a good use of negative space?

Old machinery

Some cropping of the original shot provides a good frame for this old piece of machinery.

A good place for a penthouse?
