This collection of photos shows some of the moods and angles one can get of the Matterhorn. We were there in mid summer so there wasn't much snow about. It would be great to be able to go in winter! Access is easy with many cable cars and trains to choose from.
My main blog will contain a more detailed account, coming up.
I was beginning to wonder if I would ever see the Matterhorm in a completely clear sky by now. As the day progressed the vapour trails spread out with thin cloud beginning to form as in the next photo.
Switzerland is obviously on the many busy air routes across Europe. Later in the afternnooon, the sky on a "clear day" was filled with high thin cloud from the vapour trails of jets.
Finally on our last morning in Zermatt, I got up early to find the Matterhorn in all its glory; in a completely clear sky. I was happy now!
